Software Development Engineer, Amazon Application Recovery Controller

About the role

The Incident Prevention team at AWS is seeking experienced software engineers to join a dynamic and innovative team. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining core software components that are essential to AWS’s database services, designed for the cloud. This role requires a strong background in software development, system design, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Solve challenging technical problems, often ones not previously addressed, at every level of the stack.
• Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions to enhance service performance, durability, cost, and security.
• Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products.
• Research and implement the best possible experiences for customers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (including design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Skills

A successful candidate will demonstrate deep technical and software expertise, along with strong communication, leadership, and customer focus skills. They should be comfortable working in a fast-moving, startup-like environment within a large company.
