Software Developer, Senior
As a software sustainment engineer, you play a pivotal role in an application’s functional life. From troubleshooting to fixing bugs, you use your operations and maintenance skills to ensure that things run smoothly. We’re looking for an experienced software sustainment engineer to apply your knowledge to our clients’ challenges and their legacy enterprise systems.
About the role
As a software sustainment engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll have an operational impact from day one. With a team of professionals, you’ll maintain applications and keep systems working. You and your team will use programming and scripting languages as you continuously enhance and maintain the applications, troubleshoot any issues that arise operationally, and upgrade the systems to meet security requirements. Most importantly, you’ll advise our clients on the best ways to improve and modernize the existing systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain applications and keep systems operational
- Use programming and scripting languages to enhance and troubleshoot applications
- Upgrade systems to meet security requirements
- Advise clients on improving and modernizing existing systems
- Lead design and code reviews within a collaborative, cross-functional team
- Develop and test interfaces between software products and products of other vendors
- Create and test modules and components for compliance with design specifications
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience with software development, including building systems and applications within an Agile environment
- 3+ years of experience with legacy enterprise systems and working in a microservices or distributed application environment
- Experience with workflows, web parts, site maintenance, APIs, and cloud platforms
- Experience with basic programming languages, including Python, technologies, tools, or web development stacks and designing and debugging applications
- Knowledge of source control systems such as Git
- Ability to address findings from design and code reviews
- TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
- HS diploma or GED
Skills
- Experience with Java, Python, JavaScript, React, Angular, and NodeJS (preferred)
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (preferred)
- Knowledge of shell scripting and automation (preferred)
- Knowledge of DevOps, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (preferred)
- Knowledge of relational and hierarchal data structures or functional programming (preferred)
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in IT or Software Development (preferred)

Pay
Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD).

Work models include:
- Remote: Generally expected to have cameras on during meetings. May require occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
- Hybrid: Expected to work from a Booz Allen facility frequently, with potential visits to customer facilities.
- Onsite: Work primarily performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, collaborating directly with colleagues and customers.
