About the Role
Henderson Engineers is seeking a Software Developer II to join our team in Kansas City. In this role, you will develop and maintain internally facing business applications that automate complex workflows, provide data-driven insights, and enhance daily tools to ensure high-quality performance. You will solve complex technical problems, mentor less-experienced developers, and ensure applications are user-friendly, effective, and adhere to technical standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop applications, gather requirements from stakeholders, and manage project activities.
- Design and implement solutions, evaluate, test, and revise applications as needed.
- Respond to requests for changes, bug fixes, and optimizations to existing software, including legacy applications.
- Create and maintain style standards, design reusable components, and review applications to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Mentor and assist newer developers to ensure they understand company policies and procedures.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to streamline and improve processes, from front-end frameworks to automation tools.
- Research new programming languages and design technologies to enhance software applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (required).
- Developer certifications (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, specifically in full-stack software development and UI/UX.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and quickly.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage projects efficiently and in an organized manner.
- Keen attention to detail.
Skills
- Asp.NET with C#.
- JavaScript (JQuery for legacy apps, React/Redux/TypeScript for new apps).
- Modern CSS/HTML (experience with CSS pre/post-processors like LESS, SASS, PostCSS is a plus).
- SQL (specifically Microsoft SQL Server; experience with reporting services is a plus).
- Knowledge of Henderson’s programming, design, and documentation standards.
