About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer – Developer (Mid Level or Senior) to join our Phantom Works Advanced Mission Planning team located in Berkeley, MO. This role is integral to supporting Boeing's Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization, focusing on developing cutting-edge autonomous systems and mission planning solutions. As part of this team, you will be involved in designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems that are critical to national security and advanced defense operations. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects that leverage the latest in autonomous technology, robotics, and mission systems architectures, ensuring Boeing remains a leader in aerospace and defense technology.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain non-embedded software throughout the entire software lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Translate customer requirements into initial software design, ensuring technical feasibility and adherence to specifications.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and promoting best practices in software development.
- Develop use cases and perform detailed analysis to refine software requirements and functionalities.
- Conduct software architecture trade studies and implement modifications to meet evolving project requirements.
- Create and define interface specifications for software components to ensure seamless integration across systems.
- Perform rigorous unit and integration testing to validate software functionality and reliability.
- Participate in peer reviews to maintain high-quality code standards and facilitate knowledge sharing among team members.
- Support system-level and flight testing activities, providing technical expertise and troubleshooting as necessary.
- Document software design, development processes, and user manuals to ensure comprehensive project records and compliance.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or a related field, with a minimum of 13 years of relevant work experience. Candidates must be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance post-employment.
- A minimum of five years of software engineering experience is required, with proficiency in C++ for at least three years.
- Experience in autonomy and robotics software techniques, real-time software development, and Agile methodologies is essential.
- Preferred qualifications include an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance, experience with mission systems architectures such as Open Missions Systems (OMS) or Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI), and familiarity with electromagnetic warfare and radar systems.
- Candidates with simulation development experience, knowledge of continuous integration practices, and proficiency with development tools like JIRA, GIT, and Jenkins will be highly advantageous.
