Software Dev Engineer II, Programming Foundations

About the role

The Programming Foundations Team within Amazon Builder Experience is seeking a Software Development Engineer. The Language Experience team in Builder Tools is the central hub for Amazon's use of programming languages, shared software, and application build tools. These tools are utilized across all areas of the business, and their maintenance and evolution are crucial to the efficiency of Amazon.

Responsibilities

• Design and build developer tools that Amazon engineers use daily
• Work with languages and libraries powering Amazon's services, making them easier to use and more reliable
• Maintain build tools, compilers, and package managers
• Work on repository mirrors for 3PSW
• Collaborate with engineers across Amazon to understand their needs and build tools addressing those needs
• Write code, review code from teammates, and assist in debugging tool issues

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
