Responsibilities
- Support operational and strategic observations, insights and lessons on current SOF employment, development, and design as identified in working groups, operations, exercises, training events, concept development, war games, and experiments.
- Conduct the DVRED process to capture, document, and archive HQ planning, organizing, and program activities, processes, and lessons learned in support of HQ priorities.
- Conduct internal examination of Headquarters' directorates to capture, document, and archive best practices and lessons learned covering the planning, organizing, and execution of HQ priorities.
- Employ knowledge of HQ and subordinate commands' current and historical staff roles and areas of responsibility to support HQ collection activities.
- Employ expert research skills to conduct independent evaluations of HQ findings and advise senior leadership on potential approaches, benefits for capability resolution, and implications to DOTMLPF-P.
- Cook up with HQ and subordinate military leadership to synchronize HQ efforts and findings, including travel to events within specific theaters as required.
- Document special project staff roles, responsibilities, organization, and processes for best practices and efficiencies that support the HQ mission and vision.
- Leverage cross-functional military Services and government agency analytical studies and lessons learned to support adjustments to HQ processes.
- Cook up Command-driven Before Action Reviews (BAR) for exercises, war games, and experiments in support of HQ events.
- Conduct comprehensive post-event analysis to identify immediate capability impacts and long-range effects on training, employing, organizing, development, and design of forces.
Requirements
- Active Top Secret clearance.
- Master's degree in International Relations, Strategic Studies, or a related field, OR graduate of a U.S. Military War College that issues a master's certificate.
- Prior service E8, CW3, or O5 with 3 years of experience at USSOCOM as a staff officer/NCO supporting the DOTMLPF-P and SOFCIDS process.
- 1 year of experience with advanced analytical tools and/or artificial intelligence platforms (e.g., MS Excel, Power BI).
- 1 year of experience supporting operational and strategic working groups, operations, exercises, training events, concept development, war games, and experiments.
