About the role
Paul D. Camp Community College seeks an adjunct instructor to teach Sociology courses.
Responsibilities
- Create a learning environment that facilitates students' acquisition of knowledge and skills in Sociology.
- Design and implement curricula that align elements of student learning to their educational goals.
- Develop and adapt teaching and learning strategies to accommodate traditional and non-traditional students with diverse backgrounds and varied academic competencies.
- Utilize various technologies for communication, organization of data and course materials, presentations, etc.
- Evaluate and enhance student learning using formative and summative assessment measures.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, for group presentations or one-on-one settings.
- Stay current and continually improve knowledge and understanding of the teaching discipline.
- Incorporate AI into Sociology education.
- Incorporate technology into education.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in Sociology or a related field.
- Ability to design and implement curricula that align elements of student learning to the student’s educational goals.
- Knowledge of methods to effectively teach Sociology online.
- Experience with proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods to include online delivery, hybrid and hyflex course options, content software web-enhancements, etc.
- Willingness to incorporate AI into Sociology education.
- Experience with incorporating technology into education.
Benefits
Adjunct teaching responsibilities vary as needed by the institution. Individuals hired to teach courses in an adjunct capacity may only teach a total of 12 workload credits in each term (fall and spring) and 8 workload credits in the summer term.
