Social Worker - Veteran Justice Outreach

About the role

The Veteran Justice Outreach Social Worker is a Senior Social Worker whose position is located in the Social Work Service at the Chillicothe VAMC - Chillicothe - Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous quality improvement activities - evaluation/consultation
• Placement services
• Treatment matching sessions
• Referral and linkage to various community agencies for Veterans who are being monitored by the courts - including treatment or specialty courts

Requirements

• Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship, English Language Proficiency, Master's Degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited school, Advanced Practice License, and Verification of Degree.
• Licensure Requirement: Advanced Practice License, ability to provide supervision for licensure, and possession of specialized experience.
• Experience Requirement: At least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure, with one year equivalent to GS-11 grade level.

Qualifications

• Education: Master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited school

• Experience: Two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure, with one year equivalent to GS-11 grade level
• Specialized Experience: Assessing and documenting identified behaviors or symptoms of abuse, neglect, exploitation and/or intimate partner violence; using clinical social work skills; maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality; acting as an advocate with appropriate community service providers and agencies; independently assessing the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their family members; identifying the patient's strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and psychosocial acuity; providing specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients in the service delivery area; expanding clinical knowledge in the social work profession; writing policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines pertaining to the service delivery area.

Skills

• Knowledge in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in the specialty area - utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services and to design system changes.
• Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice.
• Ability to provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients in the service delivery area - as well as role modeling effective social work practice skills.
• Ability to expand clinical knowledge in the social work profession.
