About the role

Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) is seeking social workers for the Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) program to serve clients in Clay, Palo Alto, Emmet, Dickinson counties and surrounding areas. Bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide training interventions to address behavior/behavior needs of children and adults diagnosed with a mental disorder.
• Assist individuals and families in building additional skills to manage behavior and recover positive functioning within the home and community.
• Conduct assessments to address child and family needs, develop and adjust implementation plans based on the child/family situation, and evaluate progress.
• Make clinical decisions using discretion and independent judgment, relying on evaluation and training to diagnose.
• Travel required as families are visited in homes, offices, or other community locations.
• Maintain a flexible schedule that may include normal work hours, outside normal hours, or optional weekend work.
• Perform marketing activities to build case quantity and scheduling to meet minimum productivity requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW), human services, or a related field plus one year of full‑time human services experience; OR 20 hours of child mental health training can substitute for the experience.
• OR Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field plus two years of full‑time human services experience; OR 30 hours of child mental health training can substitute for the experience.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, good driving record, and ability to pass an extensive background check (Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry, criminal history check).

Qualifications

• Preferred: Master’s or bachelor’s in social work or related human services field plus one year of full‑time experience in human services, with specialization in child mental health services.
• OR Bachelor’s in an unrelated field plus two years of full‑time equivalent experience in human services, with specialization in child mental health services.
• Additionally, preferred applicants have completed 20 hours of training on child mental health.
• Acceptable human services degrees include psychology, sociology, counseling, human development/services.
