About the role
The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is seeking Social Workers and Human Services Professionals at the Maui Community Correctional Center and Maui Intake Service Center.
Responsibilities
- Provide the full range of core human services work such as assessment of needs; development and implementation of service plans, which may include direct services; and monitoring, evaluating and making adjustments to service plans.
- Utilize established policies and procedures and casework skills and judgment to address more routine aspects of casework.
- Work with diverse types of people in various settings including hospitals, social service agencies, schools, correctional facilities, and programs concerning substance abuse, aging, and family violence.
- Assist individuals and their families in finding satisfactory ways to identify their problems, cope with their conditions, and function effectively within their environments.
Requirements
- Legal Authorization to Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- Education:
- Master's degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, or a doctoral degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, or a comparable regional accreditation body.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a minimum of 12 semester credit hours in courses such as counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology, or other behavioral sciences.
- Specialized Experience: One year for Level III and two years for Level IV, depending on educational background.
- Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements.
Qualifications

- Applicants who will graduate within three months with a Bachelor of Social Work degree or applicable Master's degree can submit a copy of their official transcript and a letter from their department head or registrar verifying their current enrollment, expected graduation date, and major.
Skills
Knowledge of professional concepts, principles, and techniques used in human services, interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay
$5,107 to $6,221 per month (SR-20, Step D to I) for Social Worker Or Human Services Professional III, and $5,527 to $6,728 per month (SR-22, Step D to I) for Social Worker Or Human Services Professional IV.
