About the Role
The Social Worker is responsible for supplying necessary counseling within the realm of the Domestic Violence programs. Using a non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach, the Social Worker will complete assessments, psychosocial assessments, referrals, run support groups, and other assigned tasks to support clients along their journey from emergency housing to permanent or transitional housing. Our work emphasizes safe and stable housing, cultural competency, anti-racism, and respect for each individual’s journey.
Responsibilities
- Carry a caseload of residents and provide services within program regulations and agency mission.
- Complete client assessments, including intake, overall client, and risk assessments.
- Evaluate and assess client functioning, supporting clients in meeting individual goals.
- Practice person-centered and collaborative service planning, ensuring service plans are completed and signed according to regulatory guidelines.
- Interpret and explain agency policies and procedures to residents.
- Develop safety plans and provide individual and family counseling.
- Make referrals and coordinate services for clients, including medical, mental health, and substance abuse prevention and treatment.
- Advocate on behalf of residents with other service providers and link residents to community-based programs.
- Run groups under supervision and participate in audit preparation.
- Participate in weekly case conferences, intake, assessment, discharge, and follow-up conferences.
- Attend regular staff meetings, trainings, and offsite meetings as required.
- Participate in planning and execution of special and holiday events.
- File incident reports as appropriate and complete timely documentation of all resident interactions.
- Facilitate monthly roommate meetings when appropriate.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work or similar degree; LMSW or LCSW preferred.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in Human Services preferred.
- Experience working with individuals living with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, or trauma.
- Knowledge of local and state health and human service systems and their navigation.
- Commitment to working with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, a history of trauma, and/or homelessness.
- Compassion, respect, and patience for vulnerable individuals and their recovery process.
- Openness to approaching work through an anti-racist lens and engaging in continuous learning.
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations and demonstrate empathy.

Qualifications
- Familiarity with Windows environment and willingness to learn new systems and application software.
- Able to read data and documents, including spreadsheets, reports, and Electronic Health Records.
- Limited manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for data input.
- Ability to travel in the community, walk up flights of stairs, and lift up to 25 lbs.
