Salary: $60,155.91 – $65,668.00 annually (Full‑time).

Responsibilities
- Provide social work services, including treatment and immediate crisis response for at‑risk children in complex cases.
- Investigate and assess alleged abuse, neglect, or dependency in accordance with federal, state, and NC General Statutes guidelines.
- Petition courts for immediate custody and arrange placement in licensed foster homes or approved relative placements when children are at immediate risk.
- Maintain cases, conduct required contacts, and complete documentation until transfer to a foster‑care social worker.
- Conduct fact‑finding investigations through interviews, home visits, collateral contacts, and other methods.
- Prepare social histories and family assessments; document facts within legal definitions of abuse, neglect, or dependency.
- Make case decisions regarding abuse, neglect, dependency, and level of intervention needed to assure safety.
- Inform clients of available programs and services and encourage participation.
- Provide expert testimony and court reports as required.
- Review case results with supervisor and recommend disposition.
- Complete investigations/assessments within statutory timeframes; determine case outcomes such as transfer to foster care, in‑home services, or closure.
- Maintain detailed case records, statistical reports, and ensure documentation is clear, concise, professional, and up‑to‑date.
- Document contacts with children, parents, and collateral parties (e.g., extended family, neighbors, school, medical, mental‑health professionals).
- Use prescribed tools/forms, including electronic case management systems (NC FAST) and related technology.
- Perform on‑call duties when assigned.
- Engage in relationship building across the organization, establishing collaborative relationships and demonstrating empathy.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; OR
- Master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; OR
- Four‑year degree in a human services field (or related curriculum) and three years of social work or counseling experience; OR
- Four‑year college degree and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human‑service field providing casework, group work, or community organization experience; OR
- Equivalent combination of training and experience.
- One year of work experience may be credited for completion of the social work collaborative.
