About the Role
The Clinical Lead will assist the Director of Social Services in overseeing Associate Clinicians who are accruing supervised clinical hours toward Social Work licensure with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). The Clinical Lead will also provide high-quality case management and psychotherapeutic services to adult psychiatric patients and their families, spouses, or significant others. The role involves active participation in the multi-disciplinary treatment team to support program philosophy, deliver quality psychotherapeutic services, and prioritize patient safety and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group clinical supervision to Social Services staff under a BBS supervision agreement and interns as they collect school internship hours.
- Provide clinical insight and feedback to Social Services Department interns and aid in their development.
- Support interns with co-facilitating group therapy sessions.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments to document history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus by interviewing patients and their family members.
- Provide group and family process-oriented therapies, as well as conduct educational and other didactic groups for patients and family members using various professional treatment modalities.
- Attend regular treatment team meetings to provide the social work perspective to the interdisciplinary team.
- Coordinate with case managers to impart pertinent information on cases garnered by patient interaction in groups, during psychosocial assessments, or individual interactions.
- Conduct 1:1 patient check-ins and participate in the creation and review of treatment plan updates and goal setting with patients, as needed.
- Report to community/state agencies any patient issues as required by law for mandated reporting.
- Provide backup service for incoming assessment and referral calls.
- Utilize trauma-informed care approach to assist with patient de-escalation and crisis intervention, as needed.
- Demonstrate conduct in keeping with NASW, Joint Commission, CMS, and Aurora ethical standards.
- Comply with facility safety, infection control, and security programs.
- Participate in activities that enhance professional growth and development.
- Assist the Director of Social Services with special assignments, as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Participate in staff hiring and evaluations.
- Provide supervision to a select number of employees in need of qualifying hours.
Requirements
- Possession of a current, active, and unrestricted California license in good standing (not under suspension or probation) as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
- Master’s Degree in Social Work.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification for Healthcare Providers – American Heart Association.
- Knowledge of acute adult psychological disorders.
- Knowledge of acute adolescent psychological disorders.
- 3-5 years’ experience in the mental health field.
