Social Worker - Crime Victims Services

Responsibilities
- Provide supportive services, including but not limited to crisis intervention, counseling/therapy, advocacy, compensation assistance, criminal justice and civil legal assistance, and support groups to victims/survivors of crime in collaboration with local schools.
- Travel to offer services to students within local schools.
- Assist with staffing the programs 24-hour hotline (minimum of 4, 12-hour shifts per month).
- Perform outreach and build relationships with school staff.
- Collaborate with Law Enforcement agencies, as needed.
- Collaborate with the New York State Office of Victim Services staff, as necessary.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling is required.
- Experience working with children and adolescents is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system and Family Court process is preferred.
- Excellent writing skills, public speaking, and proficiency are required.
- Reliable transportation is required to meet with clients at school locations, to attend any required meetings, and to provide education/outreach programs.
- New York State Certified Sexual Assault Counselor (or be willing to apply for certification with appropriate training provided by our department).
Pay
Pay Range: $30.00 - $43.86 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
