As a Social Worker 1 with the Department of Human Services (DHS), you will play an important role in supporting patient care at Danville State Hospital. Responsibilities
- Patient Services: Provide social work support for a unit of approximately 30 patients, including newly admitted individuals and transfers.
- Treatment Planning: Complete social histories, update assessments, participate in interdisciplinary treatment conferences, and assist with discharge planning.
- Therapeutic Support: Provide individual, group, and family counseling, and serve as a liaison to families and community agencies.
- Communication Duties: Share information with staff, communicate changes in patient status, and support continuity of care.
- Property and Financial Guidance: Assist patients with property management, arrange transportation to financial institutions, and explain financial competency rights and legal procedures.
- Skill Development: Attend training and conferences to maintain and improve professional skills.
Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor's or master’s degree in social work or social welfare. Applicants within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree will be considered to have met the educational requirements.
- Residency: Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Legal Requirements: Must pass a medical examination, drug screening, and submit satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police and FBI clearance) as per the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Schedule
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Schedule may change based on operational needs. Travel is required, and free parking is provided. Telework is not an option for this position.
