Social Work Supervisor - Homeless Families

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the clinical supervision of Case Managers and Housing Specialist
  • Provides administrative and group supervision, chairs case conference meetings and ensures the coordination and monitoring of service plan implementation
  • Captures staff training, meetings, supervision and ensures other opportunity for the professional development of staff
  • Attends consortium meetings, e.g. with DHS and others to discuss issues pertaining to service delivery
  • Evaluates mental health status for residents on admission by ensuring the completion of intake assessments, coordination of mental health/psychiatric care and provides referrals and brief psychotherapy as needed
  • Develops and facilitates group meetings
  • Marks resident records for compliance and best practices
  • Functions independently in times of facility coverage including responsibility for appropriate action in crisis situation per agency procedures
  • Attends monthly staff meeting and case conferences
  • Regularly assesses the safety and well-being of all clients
  • Participates in weekly individual and group supervision with Director
  • Participates in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop clinical skills
  • Functions independently in time of facility coverage, including responsibility for appropriate action in crisis situation per agency procedure
  • Aids with reports and program evaluation
  • Aids the with overlapping needs of children and residents
  • Reviews progress notes, service plans and ensured compliance with all DHS reporting requirements
  • Marks client compliance and keeps supervisor informed of incidents as they occur
  • Develops strategies for engaging individuals with trauma histories
  • Safeguards compliance with URI standards, program policies and procedures and promotes the provision of quality care for all participating residents
  • Communicates with ACS and outside service providers as needed

Specifications For Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • Masters Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, and/or a Licensed Social work degree

Required Skills And Experience

  • Five years of experience, working with homeless individuals and their dependent children
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with and/or knowledge of homeless families including individuals whom identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIV-affected, the elderly and individuals with substance abuse and/or mental health issues
  • Familiarity with DHS regulations and DHS Cares Reporting
  • Experience with supportive group facilitation
  • In addition, must have training and experience in assessing the vocational and educational needs and aptitudes of clients, thorough familiarity and success with engaging clients experience assisting eligible clients through the process of obtaining Public Assistance, Medicaid and other benefits
