Social Services Manager-Rapid Response / Jackson

About the role

The Social Service Manager for Rapid Response will provide indirect and direct support to service areas needing support from the Rapid Response team. They will assess the needs of a specific service area or county and implement a plan to offer wrap-around support for fostering practice and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the ADC to assess the needs of a specific service area or county and implement a plan for wrap-around support.
  • On-site travel to the area needing support from the Rapid Response team may be required.
  • Accountable for the oversight of social service activities of a facility or program.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Develop procedures and administrative policies, and administer program budgets.
  • Serve on an agency's leadership team and be accountable for the direct supervision of the Team Leads within the Rapid Response team.
  • Supervise staff within the service area in which they are currently on assignment, as identified from the initial plan.
  • Oversee social service policies and procedures pertaining to the wellbeing and permanency of foster children and families.

Requirements

This position requires a professional commitment to and caring about clients and the larger profession of child welfare. It also demands personal resilience and strong self-efficacy beliefs about the ability to work with clients to produce positive client outcomes. Efficient organizational and time management skills, good oral and written communication skills, and positive work morale are preferred. The ability to be flexible in thinking and problem-solving, realistic expectations about the difficulty and challenges of the work, and the ability to handle an often-unpredictable work environment are also essential.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, social services, psychology, educational psychology, sociology, nursing, criminal justice, counseling, marriage and family therapy, family studies, or a related field.
  • Five (5) + years of experience and two (2) to three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • A Master's Degree and/or a social worker's license may be required by appointing authority.
