Social Services Assistant

About the role

As a Social Services Assistant, you will assist the Social Service Coordinator and Social Workers in providing medically related social services to ensure residents achieve or maintain optimal physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. You will also foster an environment that supports residents' individuality, independence, and dignity.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing medically related social services
• Promote a supportive and dignified living environment for residents
• Work closely with the Social Service Coordinator and Social Workers
• Engage with residents to understand their needs and preferences
• Support residents in maximizing their independence and dignity

Requirements

• Minimum of one year of supervised social service experience in a healthcare setting with geriatric population
• Minimum of two years of prior experience in a long-term care facility, skilled nursing facility, assisted living community, or memory care center

Qualifications

• A degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred
• A Social Service Certificate or 36-Hour Social Service Designee Certificate is preferred
• A flexible, fun, and energetic personality
• A professional image in both appearance and behavior
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of geriatric care and social services
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
