About the role
Social Services Assistants play an important role in supporting children and families involved with the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This position provides direct support to families through transportation assistance, supervision of family time, and engagement with children and caregivers to help support safety, stability, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist in client intake and service referrals
- Provide basic counseling and resource navigation
- Maintain accurate records and case documentation
- Support community outreach and public education initiatives
- Coordinate scheduling and follow-ups for client services
Requirements
- Minimum of six months of work experience in human services programs or public service
- Required to have a background check and child/adult maltreatment registry check
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to safely supervise and transport children of various ages
- Frequent in-state travel required
- Flexibility to meet the needs of children and families, including availability during mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
- Strong organizational and administrative abilities
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
Preferred qualifications
- Ability to work with all ages of children and adult clients including engagement on parenting and basic life skills
- Time management, strong communication and organization
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with different community partners, agency staff and the families we serve
Pay
Anticipated starting salary: $35,610.02. Salary range: $35,610 - $52,703. Pay grade: SGS02.

Schedule
