About the role

The Social Services Advisor reviews all Orders of Commitment, completes demographic backgrounds with parents/guardians, and identifies youth needs both in custody and upon discharge. They are responsible for making monthly visits to youth on their caseloads, which includes both residential and aftercare cases, and traveling to various sites and courts across the state.

Responsibilities

  • Make monthly visits to youth on their caseloads, including residential and aftercare cases.
  • Travel to all (6-8) sites across the State and attend Courts.
  • Attend Treatment Team Meetings and provide information to all parties involved.
  • Monitor compliance with treatment plan goals and complete monthly SSA Treatment Team Progress Reports.
  • Review progress reports from contracted programs and coordinate meetings with providers as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with DYS/DCFS cooperation agreements and assist with placement issues.
  • Complete dual custody staffing reports, Registration Risk Assessment, and prepare Interstate Compact packet.
  • Prepare and submit SAVRY updates every six months and track commitment order extensions.
  • Contact courts for hearings and notifications related to youth's release.
  • Serve as a liaison with court officials, contracted programs, guardians, and stakeholders.
  • Address and report grievances to Quality Assurance regarding unmet youth needs.

Requirements

The Social Services Advisor must have excellent problem-solving and communication skills, knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, understanding of Arkansas social service laws, policies, and regulations, and ability to analyze client needs and create action plans. They should also have knowledge of behavioral health and protective services.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of work experience in human services programs or public service.
  • Background check and child/adult maltreatment registry check required.
  • No certification or licensing requirements.

Skills

Knowledge of the Juvenile Justice System and PREA Standards, SAVRY Re-Assessment Tools, and ability to analyze client needs and create action plans.
