Responsibilities
- Interview clients to determine need and best course of action for addressing that need.
- Provide regular services such as Food Pantry, rental assistance, Good Neighbor Fund, Veolia Water Fund, and referrals to other agencies.
- Consult with Corps Officers for unique requests.
- Complete annual grant applications and reports for the Food Pantry.
- Administer the Good Neighbor Fund through Orange and Rockland.
- Provide guidance and intake for local clients, determine qualifications, complete applications, keep records, make reports to supporting agency, keep statistics, and provide administration for other participating locations.
- Plan, organize, and implement regular annual special assistance programs, including scheduling events, securing volunteers and resources, and providing guidance and intake for local clients.
- Keep regular office hours, including intake for Holiday Assistance programs and distribution, and provide guidance and intake for local clients.
- Attend regular training opportunities and represent The Salvation Army at local networking opportunities.
- Oversee community Service Workers and provide necessary reports and letters confirming their hours worked.
- Manage front office volunteers and Senior workers.
- Answer all phone calls.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Corps Officers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field.
- Two years of experience in a related field.
- Commitment and desire to assist those in need.
- Understanding and desire to fulfill the mission of The Salvation Army.
- Well organized and able to prioritize tasks.
- Self-motivated and able to work under little supervision.
