Social Ministries Coordinator (Spring Valley Corps)

Responsibilities

  • Interview clients to determine need and best course of action for addressing that need.
  • Provide regular services such as Food Pantry, rental assistance, Good Neighbor Fund, Veolia Water Fund, and referrals to other agencies.
  • Consult with Corps Officers for unique requests.
  • Complete annual grant applications and reports for the Food Pantry.
  • Administer the Good Neighbor Fund through Orange and Rockland.
  • Provide guidance and intake for local clients, determine qualifications, complete applications, keep records, make reports to supporting agency, keep statistics, and provide administration for other participating locations.
  • Plan, organize, and implement regular annual special assistance programs, including scheduling events, securing volunteers and resources, and providing guidance and intake for local clients.
  • Keep regular office hours, including intake for Holiday Assistance programs and distribution, and provide guidance and intake for local clients.
  • Attend regular training opportunities and represent The Salvation Army at local networking opportunities.
  • Oversee community Service Workers and provide necessary reports and letters confirming their hours worked.
  • Manage front office volunteers and Senior workers.
  • Answer all phone calls.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Corps Officers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Two years of experience in a related field.
  • Commitment and desire to assist those in need.
  • Understanding and desire to fulfill the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Well organized and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under little supervision.
