About the role

The Social Media Specialist Intern supports the Communications team at the National Center for Urban Solutions (NCUS).

Responsibilities

  • Create and publish engaging content across NCUS's social media channels, including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Produce reels, short-form videos, graphics, and other digital content that aligns with current trends and best practices.
  • Attend organizational events and initiatives to capture photo and video content for NCUS social media platforms.
  • Leverage OpusClip and other editing tools to transform long-form content into engaging short-form videos.
  • Write compelling captions and assist with content planning and editorial calendars.
  • Support community management by monitoring comments, messages, and audience engagement.
  • Maintain and analyze social media analytics to recommend content improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to develop storytelling content that highlights the impact, leadership, and mission of NCUS and its affiliated organizations.

Requirements

  • Current student pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging reels, graphics, and short-form video content.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, algorithms, and emerging content formats.
  • Proficiency with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar creative tools.
  • Excellent written communication skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • A portfolio or examples of social media content required.

Qualifications

Approximately 8 hours per day, up to 5 days per week (up to 40 hours total), with flexibility in scheduling based on availability and project needs. Some evening and weekend availability may be required for events.
