Social Media Marketing Specialist
About the role
We are seeking a Social Media Specialist to provide the hands-on support our marketing team needs to run day-to-day. This is a builder's role: building the engine from the ground up. This is not a role where you wait for direction — it's a role where you set it. You'll own the content calendar, the creator and affiliate relationships, the community, and the reporting that tells us what's working.
Ideally, this role will sit fully on-site in Los Angeles, CA HQ, but we are open to considering fully remote for the right candidate if they are not based in Southern California.
What You'll Own
- Content & Social Publishing: Run the day-to-day social calendar — plan, schedule, and publish across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Pinterest, keeping every channel active, on-brand, and on-cadence. Build and maintain a content calendar around campaigns, launches, and cultural moments, and stay ahead of platform and algorithm shifts. Shoot and edit content yourself when speed or an in-the-moment opportunity calls for it. Brief and coordinate assets for social, manage budget and production. Spot trending formats, sounds, and creators worth activating, and bring ideas to the team with a point of view on why they'll perform. Assist with implantation of paid social media: boosting, Spark Ads / creator whitelisting, audience builds, and creative testing alongside our media partners.
- Creator, Influencer & Affiliate Relationships: Own creator and creator affiliate program management end-to-end — identification, outreach, negotiation, contracting, onboarding, and ongoing relationship management across tiers (macro to micro). Manage seeding, mailers, and UGC sourcing/briefing, and maintain our content and rights-management library. Vet perspective creators and brand partners for authentic fit values, aesthetic, audience, and past brand work — and negotiate custom briefs and contracts to protect brand. Build authentic, long-term relationships with creators, influencers, and affiliates. Own affiliate and creator commerce platforms (e.g., ShopMy, TikTok Shop, Creator iQ and similar) for seeding, UGC, and affiliate performance, including fiscal tracking and optimization.
- Community Management: Manage day-to-day community engagement — comments, DMs, and light moderation — always within the brand voice. Help build and grow an organic community across social — fostering genuine conversation, rewarding loyal followers, and turning casual audiences into engaged fans.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the Brand Manager to keep social aligned with broader brand messaging and strategy, campaigns, and product priorities. Coordinate with PR/agency on creator events, launch experiences, activations, and community-building moments — from concept and guest list to on-site execution and recap. Support paid social efforts (boosting, whitelisting, audience builds, creative testing) alongside media partners.
- Reporting & Insights: Track and report on channel and content KPIs — growth, reach, engagement, click-through, and social-attributed revenue — weekly. Turn data into clear, actionable recommendations for the team and leadership. Jump in wherever the launch needs you—small team, big ambitions, no "not my job."
Required Skills/Experience
- 3+ years across social media, influencer/affiliate marketing, or ecommerce — ideally at a beauty, skincare, or luxury CPG brand, or a fast-moving startup.
- Can create content – editing video for social media, brief or source imagery.
- Native fluency in Instagram and TikTok as an operator, not just a user, with sharp instincts for what performs and why.
- Hands-on experience with creator/affiliate platforms (e.g., ShopMy, Impact, Creator IQ, Lefty, LTK, TikTok Shop) and social media tools (Dash Social) strongly preferred.
- Strong written communication that flexes between polished brand voice and crisp internal reporting.
- Excellent organization and follow-through — you can run outreach, seeding, publishing, and reporting in parallel without dropping threads.
- A self-starter who's genuinely excited to own social media and social commerce for a brand from day one.
- A passion for skincare and beauty culture, and excitement about growing with a brand from launch.
