Social Media Marketing Manager
About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and strategic Social Media Manager to join our dynamic marketing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive social media strategies that align with Cengage’s brand and marketing objectives. You will oversee the creation, implementation, and management of engaging content across various platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok. Your expertise will help enhance our online presence, foster meaningful audience engagement, and drive brand awareness. This position requires a proactive individual who can analyze performance metrics, optimize campaigns, and stay ahead of social media trends to ensure our content remains relevant and impactful. Collaboration with creative teams and internal stakeholders will be key to producing high-quality content and amplifying our campaigns effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading social media initiatives for a brand, preferably within a B2B or corporate environment
- Proven experience developing and implementing successful social media strategies and campaigns
- Strong understanding of platform algorithms, current trends, and best practices
- Experience with social media management and analytics tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or native platform insights
- Basic knowledge of paid social media advertising and campaign optimization techniques
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to craft compelling content
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and recommend actionable improvements
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with brand and marketing goals
- Assess and evaluate social media calendars across business units to identify optimal content for master brand channels
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the master brand social content calendar
- Plan, create, and publish engaging content across multiple platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok
- Manage day-to-day social media operations, including scheduling posts and maintaining content calendars
- Monitor social channels, respond to comments and messages, and foster active audience engagement
- Analyze performance metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and implement optimization strategies
- Collaborate with creative teams, copywriters, and marketing stakeholders to produce high-quality content
- Partner with internal teams to amplify campaigns, events, and key initiatives
- Stay updated on social media trends, emerging platforms, and industry best practices
- Oversee paid social campaigns in partnership with media teams, including audience targeting and performance tracking
- Ensure consistent brand messaging and visual identity across all social media channels
- Track competitor activity and identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently in a fast-paced environment
