About the Role

The Social Media Investigator/Research Analyst will conduct desktop-based background and social media research in support of investigations into insurance and other forms of fraud. The Research Analyst will complete background and social media reports, order services from partner vendors, update clients on red-flags uncovered during the investigation, and deliver results to management and coworkers in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Complete well-written and in-depth reports on background and social media data findings within 3 business days of order
  • Maintain an overall average of 85% or higher on all qualitative and production metrics on QBR during the review period
  • Track and maintain billing for services
  • Work under deadlines and multitask
  • Navigate ambiguity and demonstrate a basic understanding of the workers' compensation system or a desire to learn it
  • Read, analyze, and distill large amounts of information from social networking profiles, online forms, and articles, applying findings to investigations
  • Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Juggle multiple research reports while maintaining work quality, turnaround time, and effective communication with the Intel supervisor
  • Navigate and use social networking websites, search engines, aggregators, and investigative platforms to locate specific information
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
  • Type 40+ words per minute with accuracy
  • Use work time effectively, focusing on high-priority tasks
  • Marshal resources to accomplish tasks efficiently
  • Identify and present important case information in a useful manner
  • Quickly learn new technical skills and knowledge
  • Adapt to changes in information requirements and presentation methods

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, History, Political Science, or another writing-intensive major
  • Familiarity with navigating ambiguity and a basic understanding of the workers' compensation system or desire to learn it
  • Ability to read, analyze, and distill large amounts of information from social networking profiles and online sources, applying it to investigations
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to manage multiple research reports while maintaining quality, turnaround time, and communication with the Intel supervisor
  • Proficiency in navigating social networking websites, search engines, aggregators, and investigative platforms
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Typing speed of 40+ words per minute with accuracy
  • Effective use of work time and resources, focusing on key priorities
  • Ability to quickly learn new technical skills and adapt to changing requirements

Assessment of Performance

  • Quality of Investigations: Client questions are addressed, and standard red-flags are covered. Reports and correspondence are professional, well-written, and informative. Innovations and new processes are discussed with the SIU Manager for potential implementation.
  • Turnaround Time: Reports are submitted to the client within 72 business hours of order. Court records, if applicable, are forwarded immediately upon receipt.
  • Ability to Work Under Minimal Supervision: Independently manage caseload in an organized manner while communicating key aspects to the Intel Manager. Prioritize "rush" cases appropriately and stay updated on report updates, upsells, workups, and advancements in online communications and technology.
