Internship
This internship provides first-hand knowledge of airport social media efforts, policies, and community communication about flight information, legislative efforts, and marketing planning. The role includes maintaining an email marketing campaign and assisting with community-based events. The internship begins on 9/21/2026 and can extend through the end of the academic semester.
Learning Outcomes
- Gain experience collaborating with airport staff and media buyers throughout the communications and marketing planning process
- Develop skills in maintaining a social media content calendar within a complex, fast-moving operational environment
- Learn to craft and schedule engaging content across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Build foundational knowledge of airport operations and the unique communications challenges they present
- Learn to plan and execute community events designed to drive meaningful public engagement
Responsibilities
- Create posts for social media
- Create graphic designs
- Create and send email marketing communications
- Manage a social media calendar
Requirements
- Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development
- Experience maintaining a social media calendar, email marketing, and other media relations
- Event planning skills preferred but not required
- Must have the ability to pass necessary security and background checks
- Must possess strong written communication skills

This internship requires enrollment in an internship course and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement prior to the start date. The City has current MOUs with Champlain College, the University of Vermont, and St. Michaels’ College.
