About the role

The University of Miami, Frost School of Music, has an exciting opportunity for a full time Social Media and Digital Communications Specialist to work in Coral Gables, FL.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes understanding of institutional objectives, brand guidelines, and strategy to develop business awareness and generate online and social media traffic.
  • Develops unique social media content calendars and posts specific to varying platforms.
  • Develops email marketing content geared to driving high open and click rates.
  • Contributes to the creation of content for websites, flyers, and press releases.
  • Maintains and manages social media and digital content calendars in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications and key stakeholders to ensure timely, strategic, and coordinated communications.
  • Captures and edits photo and video content for digital platforms.
  • Monitors, measures, and reports on social media activities and performance.
  • Serves as the primary content administrator for the Frost School website, maintaining accurate, timely, and audience-focused content through the University's Content Management System (CMS).
  • Ensures consistency with University and Frost School branding, messaging, and editorial standards across all digital communications.
  • Collaborates with University Communications and other campus partners to amplify institutional messaging and increase visibility.
  • Attends special events and media opportunities outside regular business hours, as assigned, to capture content and support the Frost School's communications efforts.

Qualifications

  • Aceessory degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Music Business or a related field is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in social media, digital communications, marketing, website content management, or a related field is required; five (5) years preferred.
  • Experience within music, entertainment, arts and culture, or higher education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing organizational social media platforms and developing engaging digital content for multiple audiences.
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of social media best practices, analytics, audience engagement, and digital communications principles.
  • Experience maintaining website content through a Content Management System (CMS) or similar platforms and coordinating website updates across multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
  • Experience with Canva and other digital content creation platforms is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and collaboration, project management, and cloud-based platforms such as Box, Basecamp, Trello, Monday.com, or similar tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across a diverse organization.
  • Familiarity with music terminology, higher education, and the performing arts is preferred.
