About the role
As the Social Editor (Demo Content) at SN Studios in Irvine, you’ll transform raw demo footage into scroll-stopping social videos for YouTube and other platforms. You’ll operate as a pre-editor with creative authority, crafting multiple hooks, structures, and versions from a single shoot—no locked scripts, just raw footage and your storytelling instincts. Your cuts will compete for the “heck yeah” moment in the room, shaping how the story is told.
Responsibilities
- Create multiple hooks, structures, and versions (60s, 15s, vertical, square, wide) from raw demo footage, ensuring each cut is optimized for its platform.
- Build attention-grabbing first three seconds—no logos, wind-ups, or setup shots—by finding the most compelling frame in the footage.
- Structure stories for social: problem, tension, proof, payoff—all within a minute—tailored for YouTube, TikTok, Reels, and other platforms.
- Cut for both sound-off and sound-on experiences, ensuring the demo (the product’s “impossible” moment) remains the focal point.
- Edit in Premiere or Resolve at speed, with clean project organization, strong sound design, and motion/type/captions that serve the narrative.
- Deliver every ratio and length (60s, 30s, 15s, 6s, vertical, square, wide) from a single edit.
- Stay ahead of trends on TikTok, Reels, and YouTube—adopting proven formats while maintaining SharkNinja’s unique look.
- Analyze retention curves to identify drop-off points, recut underperforming videos, and test hooks head-to-head using data.
- Collaborate closely with production teams, providing input on future shoots based on what’s missing in the footage.
- Work at pace: footage on Monday, options by Wednesday, live by Friday—maintaining quality even during high-volume weeks.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience cutting social video for brands, agencies, creators, or your own channel.
- A reel demonstrating your ability to hold attention—include high-performing videos and explain why they worked.
- Proficiency in Premiere or Resolve, plus After Effects (sound design skills are a bonus).
- Speed and volume: ability to deliver multiple high-quality options quickly (e.g., 20 cuts in a week).
- Producer instincts: spot the story in the footage and pitch it, rather than waiting for direction.
- A strong point of view you can defend, along with the flexibility to adapt based on feedback.
- Deep understanding of what makes people stop, save, and share content on social platforms.
Benefits
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts (HSA) with company contribution.
- 401(k) retirement plan with matching.
- Employee stock purchase program.
- Life insurance, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance.
- Generous paid time off, company holidays, and parental leave.
- Identity theft protection, pet insurance, pre-paid legal insurance, and back-up child/eldercare days.
- Product discounts and referral bonus program.
- Wellness programs and high-impact learning opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Pay
Annual salary range: $74,000–$90,000 USD. Starting pay may vary based on geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
