About the role

The SAY Counselor/Social Worker provides prevention and early intervention services to middle and high school students in designated SAY School Districts. SAY services are designed to help prevent and reduce the use of alcohol and other drugs and decrease the incidence of other social and mental health problems such as substance use/abuse, teen violence, teen depression/anxiety and suicide.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with school principals, school counselors, teachers and other school personnel regarding the social, behavioral, emotional and environmental issues that impact student success.
• Provide prevention strategies to help the student make healthy decisions and refer the student to a higher level of care if needed.
• Contact parents when necessary and work with them to obtain a release of information so the SAY worker can communicate important information to necessary faculty and staff.
• Provide pertinent prevention education in the classroom as well as small group sessions for students that will help them learn positive coping tools, active listening skills, effective message sending, self-awareness, decision-making, communication strategies and conflict resolution.
• Attend parent programs in their school to provide education as well as serve as a resource to schoolwide programs on topics of concern and interest to parents/guardians and school personnel.
• Participate in broad, community wide education programs that promote positive adolescent health.
• Participate in professional trainings at Bellefaire that supports the goals of the program.
• Maintain timely completion of documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
• All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
• Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field.
• Licensure: Valid Ohio LSW or LPC required.

• Experience: Experience working with children, adolescents, and families.

Benefits and Salary

Full-time or part-time positions are available for this position. The Salary range is $50,000-$52,000/year depending on relevant education, experience, and licensure.
