Founded in 2002, Soccer Shots is the premier introductory soccer provider for children ages 2-8, operating in over 170 territories across 36 states in the US and Canada. Recognized as a Top 500 Franchise and a leading children’s fitness program, Soccer Shots serves over 500,000 children annually.

The local franchise, Soccer Shots Southwest Connecticut, covers Fairfield County and parts of New Haven and Middlesex Counties. Established in 2021, it serves over 2,000 participants annually at nearly 100 locations with a team of approximately 20 part-time coaches.

About the role

This internship offers hands-on experience in a successful franchise system and small business environment, focusing on delivering athletic programs to youth. Under supervision, the intern will gain exposure to planning, scheduling, sales, marketing, customer service, and management while contributing to Soccer Shots’ mission of fostering creative play and character development through soccer.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the overall execution of the Soccer Shots season, including planning and running free clinics and coaching sessions.
  • Lead efforts to organize and coordinate an annual clinic or community outreach event.
  • Conduct demos, attend promotional events, and participate in sales and marketing activities.
  • Correspond with childcare center directors and create social media content.
  • Prepare, distribute, and manage registration forms, promotional materials, and equipment records.
  • Assist in instructor training meetings and prepare marketing documents.
  • Perform data entry and administrative support tasks.
  • Attend regional meetings, Director Round Table discussions, and staff meetings as available.
  • Submit a final report summarizing the internship experience.

Qualifications

The internship is structured to provide professional development in leadership, coaching, business operations, and community engagement. Interns must present themselves professionally, arrive on time, and actively participate in both office and on-field responsibilities.

Schedule

  • Internships run for 11–13 weeks, with a minimum of 220 hours total.
  • Spring Semester: Mid-December to early June.
  • Summer: May to mid-August.
  • Fall Semester: August/September to end of November.
  • Hours range from 15–35 per week, with flexibility based on the intern’s schedule.
  • First 4 weeks: 75% office/admin, 25% on-field.
  • During the season: 25% office/admin, 75% on-field, including coaching a minimum of 25 sessions per week (sites and times TBD).
  • Sessions may include daytime, two weeknights (3–7:30 PM), and weekend mornings (9 AM–12:30 PM).

Pay

  • Compensation: $18 per hour.
  • Gas stipend: $100 for required travel.
