About the Role
Alyeska Resort is seeking Ski & Snowboard Instructors to join the Mountain Sports School team in Girdwood, Alaska. This role focuses on teaching alpine skiing and/or snowboarding to children and adults of all ability levels, emphasizing on-mountain safety and providing a fun on-snow experience. Extensive training is provided for candidates at all experience levels. The Mountain Sports School is dedicated to cultivating exceptional guest experiences and offers industry-leading training to support excellence.
Responsibilities
- Teach group and private lessons, including beginner lessons for both adults and children.
- Deliver amazing guest experiences in a safe and professional manner, providing feedback that encourages growth and engagement with the sport.
- Provide exceptional guest service while prioritizing safety.
- Support the Mountain Sports School in various tasks, such as scanning, setting up learning zones, running surface lifts, handing out program lunches, and other duties as assigned.
- Attend all required trainings and meetings.
Requirements
- Must be over 18 years of age.
- Excellent communication and guest service skills.
- Able to ski/snowboard at an intermediate level or above in all terrain with variable conditions.
- Ability to ski/snowboard for up to 6.5 hours per day.
- PSIA Level 1 or foreign equivalent preferred.
- Able to work weekends and holidays.
- Placement contingent upon completing on-snow training and meeting minimum teaching, technical, and people skills required for managing guest experiences.
What to Expect
- Be on alert and on your feet for long periods, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work in a fast-paced, high-energy resort environment.
- Adapt to seasonal changes and special events around the resort.
- Physical demands include demonstrating skiing or snowboarding techniques, lifting and carrying equipment up to 25 pounds, bending, stooping, walking in various snow conditions, and standing for extended periods.
- Work environment involves extended hours and weekends during peak business periods, frequent interaction with staff, guests, and stakeholders, and exposure to both indoor and outdoor mountain weather conditions.
