Seasonal full-time or part-time position starting mid-November. Typical schedule: 8:45 am – 4 pm, 1–5 days per week with potential evening classes.

About the role

Brighton Resort is looking for fun, energetic, and enthusiastic snowboard instructors who love sharing their passion for snow sports with others. We provide training, support, and mentorship to help new instructors succeed. You’ll teach students of all ages and abilities in group, private, and multi-week programs, helping families create lifelong memories while enjoying Utah’s legendary “Greatest Snow on Earth®.”

Responsibilities

  • Mandatory paid training for inexperienced instructors: Nov 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22 (snow conditions permitting). If conditions are poor, training will be rescheduled for Nov 21, 22, 30, Dec 1, and 2. Dates subject to change due to weather.
  • Ensure the safety and learning of students in lessons.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, resort staff, and guests.
  • Teach students of all ages and skill levels.
  • Engage in continuing education (teaching tactics, sliding skills, people skills).
  • Perform other duties related to the daily operation of the Snowsports School.
  • Work outdoors in a winter mountain environment; physically strenuous and mentally demanding for the full operating season.
  • Arrive by 8:45 AM unless teaching an afternoon/evening shift. Some weekends, holidays, or powder mornings may require being in the canyon by 7:00 AM due to traffic.
  • Complete additional training before teaching solo.
  • Work every Saturday and/or Sunday during multi-week programs for consistency.
  • Full-time instructors (4–5 days/week) must teach at least 2 afterschool programs per week (Jan–March) and work 5 days/week in March for spring break.
  • Part-time instructors must work at least 1 day/week (Saturday or Sunday) and teach one afterschool program (4:30–6:30 pm) once a week for 8 weeks starting in January.
  • Work is not guaranteed daily due to business demands; instructors typically work 4.5–6 hours/day when scheduled.
  • Wear Brighton uniform, black pants, nametag, and helmet while working.
  • Use personal phone for communication, scheduling, guest contact, and timesheet approval.
  • Complete digital report cards for each student.

Requirements

  • 18+ years old.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Demonstrate beginner riding skills and ski/snowboard at an intermediate level.
  • Willingness to work with students of all ages, skills, and group sizes.
  • Growth mindset (openness to learning and feedback).

Pay

Hourly wage plus a “student incentive” per student (commission-based).
