Key Responsibilities
- Managing on-site snow removal crews, drivers, operators, and subcontractor personnel during mobilization, active plowing, salting, and post-storm cleanup.
- Coinciding snow plowing, salting, and clearing of roads, driveways, parking lots, loading docks, access gates, and other assigned areas.
- Ensuring crews and equipment are properly staged and ready to respond during snow and ice events.
- Responding to mobilization calls and ensuring snow removal operations begin within the required response timeframe.
- Prioritizing critical access areas, including main roads, gates, parking lots, facility entrances, loading docks, trash areas, and emergency access routes.
- Monitoring snow accumulation, site conditions, equipment performance, safety concerns, and crew progress throughout each event.
- Conducting quality checks to confirm that assigned areas are plowed, cleared, treated, and safe for vehicle and pedestrian access.
- Completing snow removal checklists, reporting work progress, documenting arrival times, tracking personnel and equipment on site, and confirming completion of assigned areas.
- Coinciding with the Project Manager and Government representatives, as needed, regarding work status, access concerns, blocked areas, equipment needs, and completion of services.
- Ensuring snow is not piled in a way that blocks gates, dumpsters, loading docks, sidewalks, traffic routes, emergency access areas, or parked vehicles.
- Supporting after-hours return visits when parking areas or access routes need to be re-cleared after vehicles have moved.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience supervising snow removal, snow plowing, salting, winter grounds maintenance, or similar winter operations.
- Prior experience managing snow removal crews and/or subcontractor personnel during active snow events.
- Hands-on knowledge of snow removal equipment, such as plow trucks, salt spreaders, skid steers, loaders, snow blowers, sweepers, or similar equipment.
- Ability to read maps, site diagrams, route plans, and snow removal area drawings.
- Ability to make quick field decisions during changing weather and site conditions.
- Strong understanding of safe snow placement, salting practices, equipment staging, and post-storm cleanup.
- Ability to communicate clearly with management, crew members, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Ability to complete daily reports, checklists, work logs, arrival logs, and completion documentation.
- Must be reliable and able to respond to snow and ice events on short notice.
- Must be available for work outside normal business hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and early mornings.
- Must be able to report to the project site in New London, CT within the required response timeframe during snow events.
- Must be able to pass any required background, security, or site access screening.
