About the Role

The Snow Cat Operators and Grooming team is responsible for providing members with the highest quality and safest skiing and snowboarding surfaces. Operators follow nightly plans adjusted for changing weather conditions and are expected to conduct themselves professionally, leading by example.

Responsibilities

  • Snow Cat Operator I (0-3 Years Experience):
    • Experience in snowmaking, grooming operations, or heavy equipment operation preferred.
    • Conduct work with precision and a commitment to improving skills.
    • Set a professional example for employees in all responsibilities.
    • Maintain constant communication with necessary departments and attend required meetings.
    • Doze, pack, and grade trails, base areas, and lift ramps.
    • Skid and doze ski runs, snow surfaces, and mountain roads.
    • Operate snow cat under the direction of a shift supervisor.
    • Adhere to snow removal, snow storage, and grooming plans.
    • Complete tasks safely, timely, and with high quality.
    • Perform pre- and post-shift vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues.
    • Keep the vehicle clean and clutter-free.
    • Report safety problems and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Snow Cat Operator II (4+ Years Experience):
    • Fulfill all Snow Cat Operator I duties.
    • Maintain constant communication with departments and attend mountain operations meetings.
    • Provide basic guidance to Snow Cat Operator I employees.
    • Groom novelties, starts, shutdowns, and lift ramps as assigned.
    • Demonstrate proficiency with blade and tiller operations; winch cat experience is a plus.
  • Snow Cat Operator/Groomer III (5+ Years Experience):
    • Fulfill all Snow Cat Operator I and II duties.
    • Represent the department professionally and collaborate with all Mountain Operation departments.
    • Provide guidance to Snow Cat Operator I and II employees.
    • Work closely with the Grooming Supervisor to meet grooming goals and address challenges.
    • Excel in blade and tiller operations; winch cat experience is required.
    • Adjust nightly plans to accommodate unexpected weather-related changes.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to sit for 8 to 10 hours per shift.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Hand-eye coordination and ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to work safely near heavy equipment, high voltage, and high-water pressures.
  • Ski or snowboard abilities preferred.
  • Background in farming or heavy equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to work nights in all weather conditions, including cold temperatures and adverse weather.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Schedule

Seasonal, full-time, nonexempt position. Daily work may include shifts spent outside in cold temperatures and adverse weather conditions.
