About the role

Leidos’ Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing is seeking a Surface Mount Assembly Technician to join our team that runs SMT equipment producing a variety of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs). Leidos Defense Systems Sector / Manufacturing provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Working knowledge of SMT machines such as: Stencil Printer, Solder Paste Inspection, Pick & Place machine, Reflow Oven, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), X-ray, and hand soldering
• Understanding of different electronics packages such as 0402, 0603, BGAs and how they are processed on a SMT line
• Experience working under a microscope
• Hand soldering SMT and Through-hole parts
• Works to achieve day-to-day objectives and have significant impact on the work output
• Works independently under limited supervision
• Work in a team environment and interact with different functions, project teams, and production teams

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 1-3 years of prior relevant work experience
• Ability to read drawings and follow work instructions
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours daily
• Must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance
• Must be a resident of the Northern Alabama area or willing to relocate to the area

Preferred Qualifications

• Surface Mount Technology experience or related electronics assembly experience
• Knowledge of SMT processes used to build Printed Circuit Board Assemblies
• Current or prior certification in IPC-A-610
• Current or prior certification in J-STD-001
• Experience on SMT equipment and hand soldering

Pay

Pay Range $40,300.00 - $72,850.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
