SMT Process Engineer - 2nd Shift (10%)

About the role

Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the SMT Process Engineer is responsible for process-engineering capabilities focused on cost, quality, and delivery improvements to support a manufacturing organization.

Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:15 PM (10% shift differential).

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize SMT processes including printing, placement, reflow, AOI/SPI.
• Troubleshoot defects and lead root cause and corrective action activities.
• Customer-facing experience and technician training on SMT processes.
• Support NPI builds, DFM reviews, and process validation.
• Maintain process documentation and establish process controls (SPC, DOE).
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure stable line performance.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/6σ tools.
• Process test runs and prepare records (breakdown events, scrap, etc.), charts, and graphs of results for presentation to engineering to identify yield problems or test new products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4–6 years SMT process engineering experience.
• Knowledge of SMT equipment and IPC standards (IPC A 610, J STD 001).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with equipment such as ASM, DEK/MPM, BTU/Heller, Koh Young, Nordson.
• Lean Six Sigma or IPC certification preferred.
