About the role

Leidos’ Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing Facility is seeking a 2nd Shift SMTA Process Engineer Specialist to join our team. This position is located in Huntsville, AL and offers the opportunity to create unique solutions for complex problems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and execute manufacturing processes and procedures for electronic products.
  • Support production of printed circuit board assemblies through various processes including SMT, Through Hole Selective Solder, Press fit, Conformal Coating, and others.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop hardware build strategies and identify potential assembly issues.
  • Create and oversee the execution of manufacturing activities, ensuring adherence to customer quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with production control to meet desired delivery schedules.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with less than 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift hours from 3pm-11:30pm.
  • Available to train on 1st shift for a month or longer before moving to 2nd shift.
  • Experience with SMT, PTH, Selective soldering, Conformal Coating processes.
  • Experience with Costpoint Material Planning software and/or Agile/Windchill product lifecycle management software.
  • Experience in various quality roles.
  • Experience in using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer skills for assembly tasks.
  • Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL.
  • US Citizen with a Final Secret Clearance or eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of manufacturing experience on programs building electronic hardware to government specifications.
  • Experience in ASM pick and place, DEK screen printers, BTU ovens, PVA coating machine, Pillarhouse or JUKI selective solder.
  • Experience with software maintaining bills of materials and engineering design data.
  • Experience with electronics used on launch vehicles, targets, or missile components, and production of cable harnesses, electronics, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience in various quality roles.
  • Experience in using Manufacturing execution systems (MES).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $59,150.00 - $106,925.00 annually. Additional factors such as responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreements (if any), or other law, may affect the actual compensation offered.
