About the Role
The Patient Access Clerk performs diversified receptionist duties, coordinates all phases of patient visits, and ensures proper documentation of records to provide optimal care. This position involves direct patient contact and requires the ability to interact positively with the public, enhancing the hospital's image. Work assignments are determined by daily scheduled appointments and the priority needs of patients, medical directors, or directors.
The MCI Patient Access Clerk is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. Responsibilities include documenting total care given, reviewing and maintaining patient charts per policy, and assisting with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Perform diversified receptionist duties and coordinate all phases of patient visits.
- Collect demographic and financial information from patients or insured parties for registration.
- Document total care given and review/maintain patient charts according to policy.
- Assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
- Interact professionally with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
