Opportunity Information

Sutter Medical Center Sacramento is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Critical Care Physician with expertise in, or a strong interest in, ECMO and advanced circulatory support to join their expanding Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) program.

Clinical Practice Environment

This high-acuity, quaternary referral practice is designed to support both clinical excellence and physician sustainability. Physicians work within a collaborative, team-based model and are expected to:

  • Deliver expert cardiovascular and surgical critical care
  • Manage complex ECMO and mechanical circulatory support patients
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and coordinated care planning
  • Independently perform critical care procedures
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and program development
  • Support physician, APP, nursing, and ECMO specialist education
  • Participate in governance, accreditation, and community outreach activities

Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Eligibility for unrestricted California medical licensure prior to employment
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in: Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine Critical Care
  • Equivalent critical care training pathway

Preferred Experience

  • With ECMO, cardiac surgical critical care, or mechanical circulatory support
  • Strong critical care procedural expertise
  • Demonstrated clinical judgment and collaborative practice skills
  • Interest in leadership, quality improvement, program development, and education
