SME Program Manager (IR)
About the Role
If you want to be part of a new, high-impact team actively shaping technical solutions and program strategies for the United States Air Force’s Fighters and Advanced Aircraft (AFLCMC/WA) Directorate, Serco has a great opportunity for you! As a Program Manager Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be supporting the Fighters and Advanced Aircraft Infrared (IR) Sensing Technologies Integrated Capability Team (ICT) at Wright Patterson AFB, OH. This position is contingent upon the ability to maintain/transfer active Department of War (DoW) Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI. ICTs accelerate capability delivery by integrating acquisition, technical, and modernization efforts across the entirety of AFLCMC/WA aircraft platforms. Through portfolio-level collaboration, architecture alignment, and enterprise decision-making, ICTs create opportunities to deliver greater speed, agility, and operational capability than traditional single platform stovepipes. As part of this team, you will work alongside some of the Directorate’s most talented and motivated professionals and be empowered by the Program Acquisition Executive (PAE) to drive the integration of tools, processes, and capabilities across numerous programs.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal advisor to the IR Sensing Technologies ICT Lead by developing data-driven recommendations, guiding horizontal integration activities, and supporting a high-performing team to identify enterprise-level solutions to deliver decision-quality recommendations for senior leaders.
- Assess technical, acquisition, schedule, contracting, and resource activities across multiple programs to identify risks, opportunities, and enterprise leverage points.
- Facilitate collaboration among program offices, engineering teams, operational stakeholders, and industry partners to advance integrated IR sensing, tracking, targeting, and survivability capabilities across the portfolio.
- Interface directly with Materiel Leaders/Division Directors, Chief Engineers and other senior-level stakeholders to analyze program requirements and challenges.
- Propose technical solutions for integration into enterprise level analyses and planning processes.
- Develop executive briefings, acquisition strategies, and decision-support products that inform the directorate’s Capability Trade Council (CTC) activities and senior leader decision-making.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, modernization initiatives, and architectural approaches to improve interoperability, agility, and mission effectiveness.
- Drive enterprise alignment by identifying cross-program dependencies and recommending actionable solutions that accelerate capability delivery to the warfighter.
Requirements
- Active TOP-SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and access to Special Access Programs (SAP); background investigation current within the past 5 years or under Continuous Vetting.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in MBA, management, business, accounting, finance, logistics, or a STEM discipline with a minimum of 20 years relevant experience with the DoW, other government agency, or DoW contractor.
