About the role
SMAW Welders (Stick Welders)
Responsibilities
- Perform SMAW (stick welding) on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys per project specifications
- Interpret blueprints, welding procedures, and technical drawings
- Safely set up and operate welding equipment with accuracy
- Prepare and inspect weld surfaces, ensuring proper alignment and fit-up
- Conduct visual and measurement inspections to verify weld quality
- Maintain welding tools and equipment in proper working condition
- Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and hazard communication standards
- Absorb and execute directions and rules
- Safely operate machinery and welding equipment
- Produce quality and quantity parts that meet specifications and output goals
- Visually identify and correct deficiencies in production
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with coworkers and management
Requirements
- Proven experience as an SMAW/Stick Welder
- Ability to read and interpret welding symbols and blueprints
- Knowledge of welding standards and safety protocols (AWS, ASME, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship
- Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods
- Welding certification(s) preferred but not required (e.g., AWS D1.1)
- Exposure to heat, sparks, and loud noise
Qualifications
- Required PPE includes helmet, gloves, and respirator (when necessary)
- May include work in varying weather conditions or confined spaces
Skills
- Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
- Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMA/MMAW)
- Flux Core or Double Shielded Arc Welding (FCAW)

Pay
$18–$21 per hour
Schedule
- 1st Shift: 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM (10-hour shift)
- Schedule: Monday–Thursday OR Tuesday–Friday (must be flexible for either schedule)
- Overtime may be required based on production needs
