Small Plant Foreman

Job Summary

Beatrice Ready Mix and Concrete Company is seeking a Plant Foreman to oversee operations at their Fairbury, Nebraska plant. The ideal candidate will manage plant production, supervise staff, and perform various tasks including equipment maintenance and deliveries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a Lockout/Tagout program and ensure personnel follow safe procedures.
• Monitor moisture content of aggregates and ensure concrete mixes meet job specifications.
• Operate plant based on production schedules and operate computerized control panels to weigh and batch concrete mix ingredients.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Keep plant facilities clean and safe, including operating fire hoses and cleaning the plant, and maintaining electrical switches.
• Inspect personnel performance, document feedback, and perform minor maintenance on vehicles.
• Drive trucks to designated job sites, ensuring safety and proper loading/unloading.
• Wash chutes and dispose of leftover concrete after deliveries.
• Maintain SDS forms and ensure they are up-to-date.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directs and oversees the work of drivers and yard material handlers.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or GED;
• 5 years in ready mixed concrete production with commercial truck driving experience, or related role, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity;
• or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License;
• ACI Field Testing Technician Certification – Grade 1, or ability to obtain within reasonable time frame;
• NDOT Certified Plant Technician Certification, or ability to obtain within reasonable time frame;
• Forklift, Loader, and Arial Life Certifications, or ability to obtain as needed.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of and capability to operate all equipment and machinery used in ready mix concrete production and delivery;
• Proven track record of increasing responsibility and results in production, maintenance, process, and quality;
• Good overall technical knowledge of plant operations, concrete materials, training, environmental compliance, equipment, and construction projects;
• Understanding of Safety Rules & Regulations of the industry.
