About Plainfield Correctional Facility

Plainfield Correctional Facility is a medium-security institution with a capacity of over 1,600 incarcerated adult males. It provides mental health and substance use treatment services, along with multiple educational opportunities. The facility focuses on rehabilitation and preparing incarcerated individuals for re-entry.

Salary

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day In The Life

• Supervise offender workers in the production work of assigned shop.
• Provide on-the-job training to offenders in the manufacturing, processing, and/or shipping of products.
• Ensure that offenders register and fulfill the training according to work processes as defined by USDOL Apprenticeship Program.
• Perform or supervise the set up and maintenance of equipment.
• Provide all applicable safety training to offender workers for assigned areas of supervision.
• Maintain quality control of finished goods and work being performed.
• Attend workday attendance at assigned worksite(s).

What You'll Need For Success

• Thorough knowledge of one or more areas of manufacturing, including equipment maintenance and set-up.
• Ability to follow production schedules and monitor quality of work.
• Ability to resolve operational problems.
• Ability to supervise offenders performing work that requires exactness and accuracy, while ensuring compliance with custody policy and procedure.

A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) and at least 4 years of experience in the production of goods or services, or related experience, may be considered. Substitutions may include each 2 years of high school for 1 year of the required experience, or completion of an accredited vocational training program related to the area of assignment for up to 1 year of the required experience, along with experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group and provides supervision for incarcerated individuals requiring a high level of judgment and care.
