Small Craft Specialist

This position provides expertise and support to the US Marine Corps (USMC) in the field of small craft systems, assisting the government in tasks related to small craft programs, including market research, testing, drafting reports, conducting audits, and providing recommendations for improvements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market research and assess the potential for integration of new technology into USMC small craft programs.
• Coordinate, execute, and draft summary reports for testing of new small craft and equipment (estimated 4 reports per year).
• Draft, review, and provide recommendations for test plans.
• Conduct physical configuration audits on small craft systems (estimated 4 audits per year).
• Draft new and update existing drawings.
• Review and make recommendations for safety assessments.
• Draft, review, and edit engineering change proposals.
• Investigate and draft reports on small craft and equipment malfunctions due to material failures (estimated 4 reports per year).
• Draft and review plans, provide recommendations, and participate in supportability demonstrations, validation and verification of technical manuals, and modification of fielded assets.
• Maintain and manage the MCSC boat locker and related equipment.
• Support fielding and acceptance of initial issue equipment to operational forces, including new equipment training, technical support, issue resolution with manufacturers, and development of new equipment technical manuals.

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain a secret clearance, which requires US citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Mercury Verado Engine certified in all echelons of maintenance and diagnostics.
• Evinrude 55HP Multi-Fuel Engine certified in all echelons of maintenance and diagnostics.
• Combat Rubber Reconnaissance Craft repair certified.
• Formally trained and qualified as a USMC Small Craft Mechanic (AMOS 1342) or equivalent.
• Water Safety Craft certified as Operator/Maintainer.
• Must possess and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A.

Schedule

This position is 100% onsite in the Quantico, Virginia area.
