About the role

This role provides critical support for client relationships in the centralized Small Business Banking team, managing an existing portfolio of businesses and acquiring new business. The focus is on companies with revenues under $1MM, offering loans, lines of credit, credit cards, treasury, and depository services.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, retain, and expand lending and depository relationships with new and existing clients through direct prospecting, marketing programs, cold calling, and referrals.
  • Meet established sales goals and participate in assigned sales activities by engaging in a personal weekly sales activity plan.
  • Serve as the primary link for all financial services to Small Business Banking clients, ensuring a positive customer experience at every touchpoint.
  • Identify prospecting approaches to recognize potential customers and create opportunities to sell financial solutions for both business and personal needs.
  • Perform portfolio management activities, including handling customer inquiries, analyzing lending situations for cross-sell opportunities, and partnering with other lending areas.
  • Apply expertise in banking products/services to help clients achieve their financial goals.
  • Communicate and collaborate with branch staff, business banking teams, and internal partners servicing small companies (revenue under $1MM).
  • Process complete application packages efficiently, including screening, entering, and closing loans, lines of credit, and credit cards within target timeframes.
  • Maintain CRM information consistently for internal use to maximize efficiency surrounding small business clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration and 2+ years of outside sales experience in the financial services industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated product and new business development and/or B2B sales skills.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Small Business Banking lending practices, products, processes, and policies.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to make one-on-one and group presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Outbound telephone sales skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Pay

Compensation range: $67,869 – $99,836. The posted range represents UMB’s good faith and reasonable estimate based on its budget and expectations for the starting pay, though actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
