About the role

Vident Asset Management is seeking an experienced SMA Portfolio Manager/Trader to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will manage tax-sensitive separately managed accounts, focusing on investment performance and client service.

Responsibilities

  • Execute trades efficiently and in compliance with best execution practices.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates on portfolio performance and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
  • Manage SMA portfolios, ensuring they align with clients' investment objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Implement investment strategies tailored to individual client needs, including tax-aware management of concentrated equity positions.
  • Participate in client meetings and reviews.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and risk metrics, preparing detailed performance reports and conducting performance attribution analysis.
  • Collaborate with research analysts, traders, and other portfolio managers to share insights and develop cohesive investment strategies.
  • Ensure all investment activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Work closely with the client service team to ensure a seamless client experience.

Requirements

  • A natural problem solver with high attention to detail and a penchant for accuracy.
  • Strong understanding and ability to manage portfolio risk.
  • Strong understanding of equity, derivative, and fixed income markets.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, capable of conducting detailed investment analysis.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Proficiency in portfolio management software and trading platforms.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree or CFA/FRM designations preferred.
  • Experience using optimizers, such as those offered by Northfield, Axioma, Barra, Bloomberg, or Factset is highly preferred.
  • Experience trading and implementing option strategies on portfolios, particularly concentrated monetization strategies, including variable forwards, collars, spreads, or similar derivative-based liquidity or risk mitigating solutions, is preferred.
  • Experience working with external trading desks, structuring teams, or custodians on complex equity or derivative transactions.
  • Experience trading and implementing long-short portfolios is preferred.
