Position Summary

The Slot Technician I is responsible for performing a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs of slot machines, with infrequent assistance; possesses extensive knowledge of both mechanical and electronic aspects of slot machine repair; provides training or assistance to lesser experienced technicians.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze and respond to a variety of customer service related issues.
  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of component level electronic circuitry in gaming devices.
  • Provides training or assistance to lesser experienced technicians.
  • Performs day to day preventative maintenance; troubleshoots ticket-in ticket-out and coin machines; performs hopper tests; clears coin jams and bill validator jams.
  • Aids in game conversions and firmware upgrades.
  • Investigates and verifies any ticket issues.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies needed to perform job function.
  • Maintains and calibrates currency validators, executes machine moves, game conversions, installations, and floor upgrade of current ticket-in ticket out products.
  • Investigates device malfunctions of various gaming devices and clears coin bill and coin jams.
  • Performs the day to day repair and preventative maintenance of all slot machines.
  • Perform work regularly, predictably and in a professional manner.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work and public spaces.
  • Adheres to all Virginia Lottery Regulations.

Education and / Or Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Electronic background or minimum two-year experience in slot operations.
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience in the Gaming Industry or an equivalent customer service environment.

Additional Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Virginia Lottery.
  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Must successfully pass drug screening.
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts and/or unusual hours.
  • Prior experience in the Gaming industry strongly preferred.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Team Leadership and motivational skills.
  • Electronics at the circuit board level.
  • Technical experience and training with slots.
  • Electronic and computer programming.

Physical Demands

  • The Team Member spends time on the casino floor and is subject to varying levels of crowds and noise, and the severity of which depends upon guest volume.
  • The Team Member consistently communicates effectively with guests, as well as all levels of team members.
  • The Team Member observes and directs actions of subordinates/trainees.
  • The Team Member inspects and maintains areas for which responsible.
  • The Team Member reviews and comprehends all necessary documentation.
  • The Team Member uses all machine test equipment.
