Slitter Operator I
Summary Description
The Slitter Operator I is responsible for operating slitting and roll handling equipment to meet customer specifications while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role supports production flow through machine operation, material handling, and quality verification.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Set up and operate core cutting and roll wrapping equipment
- Cut cores to required sizes and ensure proper supply for slitting jobs
- Weigh, label, and wrap finished rolls per job specifications
- Palletize finished rolls and move them to the finished goods area
- Perform quality checks before and after production runs
- Review customer specifications and ensure compliance
- Conduct final inspections of finished rolls
- Follow GMPs, SOPs, 5S, and DTM procedures
- Perform data entry in Shop Floor and Quality systems
- Communicate machine status and job details during shift changes
- Assist with preventative maintenance as scheduled
- Issue work orders for equipment or repair needs
- Follow all food safety and allergen control requirements
- Report safety concerns, incidents, and quality issues immediately
- Provide break relief coverage for Slitter Operators
- Support other shifts or departments as needed
- Participate in Global Performance System (GPS) activities
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
