Slitter Operator

About the role
The Slitter Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the Deacro Slitter to safely deliver the highest quality products at the best efficiency and lowest scrap possible through the use of effective manufacturing methods. Slitter operator personnel report to the Lamination Continuous Improvement Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for scrap, efficiency, and product quality as set out in daily management, and conserve raw materials and supplies
- Set up and operate the slitter and supporting equipment according to SOC and as scheduled by management promptly
- Perform scheduled PM machine maintenance and troubleshooting; make repairs as directed, advise management of major problems, and seek aid from maintenance personnel for major maintenance
- Use procedures outlined in the Deacro & LB manuals to perform nip roller, idler roller, and other changes as needed
- Cross-train as backup laminator operator and assist in changeovers to assure completion promptly with quality product
- Perform all normal running adjustments to the equipment as required and aligned to the SOC to produce the product to specification; accurately record all changes
- Work independently to assist in managing critical spare parts inventories and rebuilding parts
- Enter all required quality supporting data to plant database
- Fill out daily management board before the end of every shift
- Prepare non-conformance material and package suitably for return to supplier
- Apply the correct LPN label to the rolls of slit film
- Schedule and scan all raw materials through the Oracle WMS platform
- Schedule packaging materials and supplies to the machine from the warehouse
- Remove finished product or unused materials from the slitter area to the warehouse drop area as needed
- Ensure that quality standards are upheld and that any suspect or defective product is quarantined and reported to the Shift Leader; submit samples with a complete non-conformance form to the Quality Department
- Maintain Forklift Truck certification
- Work as a valuable team member throughout the production room to accomplish business goals:
- Assist and work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Technical resources to ensure issues are addressed to optimize line performance
- Assist in the training of other personnel in proper maintenance, operation, and set-up of equipment according to approved company procedures
- Maintain good housekeeping and a 5S work area
Requirements
- High school diploma; continued education in plastics is preferred
- Slitting machine experience preferred
- Ability to tolerate standing, pushing, and pulling during 12 hours on a concrete floor

7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; 2/2/3 rotating schedule
Pay
$20.00 per hour with a $1.00 shift premium
