Responsibilities
- Adjusts blades according to width specified on slitting work order and sets up run speeds.
- Adjusts guides, loads or unloads material as required through machine.
- Installs spacers to adjust spacing to specified tolerances and cores in arbors.
- Operates machine and observes flow of material through machine to detect defects, irregular cutting, and/or winding of material.
- Uses control panel to operate machine, regulate speed, adjust side tension, down pressure, and break tension.
- Fulfills slitting job order instructions regarding packing, splice specifications, core diameter, rewind directions, splicing, length, and width of the cuts.
- Threads the web through slitter and verifies dimensions of cut to specifications using a tape measure.
- Observes slitting and rewinding operation and examines clean slit cuts.
- Reports any necessary maintenance of the machine and/or unsafe working conditions to management.
- Complies with safety regulations and maintains an orderly work area.
- Cross-trains in Packing of Materials, Tow Motor, and Forklift Certification training as required.
